Robin Beckham Biography
Robin Beckham is the owner of Beckham Media, a public relations and creative marketing company located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Beckham Media represents a number of high profile clients and manages public relations, communications and marketing opportunities for various companies and agencies.
Beckham is also the owner and founder of the following news and information web site's focused on the diverse communities: www.PittsburghUrbanMedia.com, www.SeattleUrbanMedia.com, and www.NationalUrbanMedia.com.
For over twenty years, Beckham has enjoyed working in the television industry — in front of the camera as a news anchor-reporter, an award winning writer/ producer and a public relations executive in corporate management.
Early in her career, Beckham worked as a news reporter for various television stations and later she became a national correspondent for Black Entertainment Television.
As a news reporter, Beckham successfully secured exclusive one on one interviews with some of the nation's most influential legends, including Civil Rights Pioneer, Rosa Parks; Former Heavy Weight Champion, Muhammad Ali; Academy Award Winner, Denzel Washington; Hip Hop Mogul, Sean Puffy Combs and former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, just to name a few.
In August 1993, Beckham joined WPXI-TV (NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA) as the Director of Public Affairs where she was able to help the station successfully enhance its image and reputation in the community for eleven years. During her stint with WPXI-TV, Beckham also wrote and produced award winning television programs and public service campaigns.
In an effort to broaden her public relations experience globally, Beckham later joined United States Steel Corporation as Manager of Public Relations. In this position, she managed media and public relations efforts for two of the companies’ plants.
Understanding and appreciating the power of the Internet, Beckham later joined Education Management Corporation as the Senior Public Relations Manager for their online education programs. In this position, Beckham cultivated national media and public relations opportunities for the company’s online education programs; securing national media coverage for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Argosy University and South University.
Building on her internet and news knowledge, Beckham created and founded www.PittsburghUrbanMedia.com in 2009, a news and information web site focused on the diverse communities. In June 2011, Beckham expanded her online ventures and launched www.SeattleUrbanMedia.com an urban news web site focused on news relating to the diverse communities in Seattle, Washington. In November 2011, Beckham launched www.NationalUrbanMedia.com a news site featuring news and information about America's diverse communities..
Beckham received a Masters Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Illinois, and also secured a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism, from The University of Washington, located in Seattle, Washington.
Beckham is a busy and proud mother of a son, Isaiah -- and enjoys spending time with her two Maltese-poodles, Delicious and Maximums. She is a board member with Three Rivers Adoption.
